Postcrossing Special Feature (April) -- First Maxicard!

One of my favourite postcards I received from a postcrosser is a maxicard! What is maxicard you might ask?

Maximum cards (also known as maxicard) are postcards that feature an image (monument, event, animal, etc) along with a stamp of a very similar or related image on the picture side of the card.

I received this maxicard from Australia; featuring the gold fever era during the 19th century in Ballarat, Victoria. The stamp on the card depicts the Gold Commissioner's tent and the Government Gold escort in 1852.

This postcard added another dimension to my visit to Ballarat a couple of years back. The first time I've been there was when I was about 10 years old. My parents brought me to the museum and we got to learn about the gold fever during that period of time. We even got our hands dirty as there was a section at the museum where we could dig for gold. I would like to go back to the museum again if I could! If you would like to find out more about the town Ballarat, click here.
